SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE RECAPS

You have to concede that dance is a sport when you see the way these dancers move. They are incredible! I will be recapping the SYTYCD performance shows. First let's meet the dancers:

The Ballroom Dancers:

Brittany Cherry

Pleasant Grove, UT

In the opening night ballroom routine, she is the one I couldn't keep my eyes off of. Brittany has performed on Dancing With The Stars and I have decided I am simply going to call her "Cherry."

Paul Karmiryan

L.A., CA

I seriously don't remember him from Vegas week. When I looked up his original audition, it did ring a bell, but he needs to do more to stand out.

Jenna Johnson

Provo, UT

Her eyebrows look like little tadpoles and her name reminds me of a famous woman in a not-so-G-rated industry, so let's just call her "JJ" instead. JJ is good and knows it

Alan Bersten

Minnetonka, MN

I was prepared to dub him "ponytail". Much to my dismay he cut it off for the live shows. Chosing between Alan and his brother for a spot in the top 20 was a very bittersweet moment.  I really need a nickname for this guy, because "Alan" does not match his saucy moves.

The Tap Dancers:

Curtis Holland

Miami, FL

From now on I will only refer to Curtis as "smiley". He smiles no matter the dance type. He is also one of the dancers to cry and get overwhelmed by his own performance....Smiley had trained in other styles- you can find a video on YouTube, but boy he taps like a bat outta hell.

Alexis Juliano

Coral Springs, FL

This girl is a bad ass at tap! She was the star of the opening night tap routine in my eyes and I can tell she has trained in other styles. I have a soft spot for tappers- they don't get a lot of love. This girl deserves to go far.

Aaron Turner

Las Vegas, NV

AT is a fighter. He has tried out multiple years, actually didn't make the top 20 this year, but was called back when another cast member was injured before live shows. With all his swag, I think he should've been in the top 20 to begin with. He looked great in the top 10 boys Christopher Scott routine.

The Contemporary Dancers:

*I have included the Jazz dancers with the Contemprary crew.

Nico Greetham

Woodbridge, VA

I didn't like his choreography in his original audition. Or maybe I just didn't like his mom calling him "papi." But since then Nico has looked just flawless in anything the choregraphers throw his way. Definitely a front runner. Click here to see him before SYTYCD.

Carlos Garland

Jacksonville, FL

I don't really remember 'Los from the auditions and I found it creepy that he promised back rubs to the judges if he made the top 20. To me he was the weakest of the contemporary boys in the Christopher Scott routine, but seriouly the talent on this show is sick, so take that as you will. He is the season sweet talker and posts lots of videos of himself on his YouTube channel.

Tucker Knox

Nashville, TN

Sweet curly haired Tucker- he survived a car crash and after a long road to recovery has dance in his life again. He is this season's inspiring story and I am absolutely not being sarcastic when I say that. He is a stunning dancer! You can tell he was a Julliard dancer prior to the car wreck. His technique shines through in everything.

Jasmine Mason

Placentia, CA

We will call her Jazzy Jas to distinguish between her and contemporary Jasmine. Jazzy Jas has tried out before. I always root for those that don't make it and come back- shows character. So far I have her middle of the pack in my mind with room to grow.

Amy Yakima

Northville, MI

The judges loooooove Amy. And so do I. She is the perfect mix of graceful and weird, which is so popular in the contemporary dance world. Her photo to the right does not do her dancing justice. I predict Amy to go really far!

Makenzie Dustman

Temecula, CA

Makenzie is the one whose backup plan is to become an actress. Showbiz is in her blood, as she informed us that her parents are in a jazz singing ensemble. She has been featured as a "Dance Star of Tomorrow'. For someone with a showbiz background I had a hard time remembering her. I think that is because she wasn't featured much in Vegas week.

Malece Miller

Layton, UT

Little fairy pixie! That's what she reminds me of. An early judge favorite, who slid back due to an injury in Vegas week, Malece still made the top 20. She came back injury free in the first live show. I find her to be a little sloppy in transition, but they will correct that asap.

Hayley Erbert

Topeka, KS

Hayley told all of us that her dances sometimes come across as "sexy." I didn't really see that, but I did see a beautiful dancer. I mean, Jordan from season 8, danced sexual. Hayley is the girl next door.

Jasmine Harper

Rochester, NY

You remember Jasmine, because she is the ex-gf of last season's stand out dancer, Cyrus. But we won't bring that up anymore, because everytime his name is mentioned she cries. Jasmine could be more precise with some of her movement, but she dances with emotion which is harder to teach. Her development will be interesting to follow.

The Hip Hop Dancers:

*I've included the animators with the hip hop dancers

BluPrint

Atlanta, GA

Ol' Blu is a member of the Dragon House in Atlanta- a group that produced last year's animator Cyrus and many other memorable auditions. Blu is quiet-natured which is a stark contrast to his loud look and bold dance style. I am intrigued by the contradiction.

Fik-Shun

Wichita, KS

Fik-Shun is a fan favorite. He is a street dancer whose style is classic hip-hop, but boy did he turn heards when he looked not only semi-decent, but pretty dang good doing the other styles during Vegas week. He is almost as smiley as "smiley" so he will need to work on the character of the dance, but I think he will go far with the fan support.

Jade Zuberi

Detroit, MI

Jade is another animator that they kept putting up against Blu during Vegas week. It was awesome to watch, because they are both so good at their style. I love the gritty faces he makes when he dances.

Mariah Spears

Chandler, AZ

Last, but not least, the long lost Spears sister. JK. She does look like she could be in the family though, right? Mariah is SIIIIICCCK! Next to Fik in their opening night number, I could not stop watching her. SYTYCD has been due in for another good female hip-hop dancer and M.Spears is the real deal. She is trained in other styles as you will find on YouTube and has also tried out for the show before. Can you tell I am obsessed?
